Other Migration Situation

Some seagulls flittered by, so I had to check birdcast. A local conservation group out east showed me two of my favorite bird resources, both free & courtesy of Cornell University.

Birdcast allows you to see the most likely spotted migrating birds through your area. You can go back & see who was just seen passing as well. And you can reset to town or county, check out who is flying through Tennessee if you’re just curious.

& then, their is Merlin:

Merlin (on not too windy moments - the wind does of course affect the mic on your phone) will give you an identification list of the birds it hears & the bird will be highlighted when it hears it again. It can help you distinguish where the bird is to try & spot it in the brush. If you have storage room, I recommend downloading the full North America Pack for best identification through migration & weather events.

And - live time, you can touch that bird profile & see male, female & juvenile photos to help identify. It can be really fun.

Happy Outsiding
