Work the Season

The predator birds are rolling thru strong - time to get that standing mulch down to the ground & move that line y’all - because the grass is coming!

I can’t wait to see the nice ranchers bring some of my favorite babies back to the pasture across the way. It’s always fun for me when they swing the gate - because more company watching the sun come up at coffee time & then soon enough, I get to say hi to the north critter crew at mail pickup, when they get to run west.

It’s a nice reminder, that it’s always worth the work. And I’m gonna ball like a baby the day I get to bring mine home. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 come on Velma cow day.

Here we are taking down brush, stacking ground piles (old world technique - use short thick needle to supress underneath, stack branchey’s in between, layers to the top. Then let sit, walk on top ; ), move & repeat until you have taken more ground & ready to plant), working on a Bavarian mulch bed on top of the mound for freeze protection, finishing up structural & fruit tree trimming, along with starting the future pasture fence & of course - that pesky, but so important, remediation.

Due diligence all around.

I hate half days, but my poor arm will be lucky to get attention by fall - what a joke - good thing I’m tough as they come & enough to do that I can switch gears to protect it.

Picture’s coming on the other work along the way, today just Mary beaver. I went for ducks & had a nice chat with my favorite co-worker instead ☺️.

Crawling into the puppy pile, 0430 comes early.

I hope everyone had a ‘Pride of the Prairie’ day, out here where Rural TV, is all we need.

Bar - higher. Lift again tomorrow.

552 days to go.
