@ the Farm: 2026 Season Started

Why? & ready to go options
I truly love the honey-berries for their flavor & early season crop. I think they taste like a mix of blueberries, blackberries & clover, and I ate a lot of clover as a kid, weeding the grass via hula-hoop. We had some NICE grass, NO roundup involved. But - the berries - one of their best qualities, are early pollinator support. I love seeing the first Bumbles crawl out & be so happy for something fresh. I popped in unannounced to the park yesterday; because, the sunshine

Rainy (yay rain!) Day Work
What lovely spring rain. Ducked out earlier to use the break-down bin & tree limb pile to fill up my big tall round planter I used for wind protection last year. Yay future broccoli space! Tossed in some lettuce to start ; ) French drain work next droplet stop. Happy Monday!

Springing Up ; )
Iām so excited about watching the Queen of Prairie grow out. One of the reasons I love perennials - their ability to thrive in the Spring weather cycles. In the midst of the 70ās / snowflakes, the Larkspur & Columbine are pushing up & fluffing out, the honeyberries are just smiling, who cares about the temperature, 11 hours of light?! Weāre growing! So are the bunnies though - and they are hungry, so get that Mole Max / Castor oil granuals out & watered in to protect the gro

Awaiting Nursery License in Mail - Potting up for 2026
Itās such an exciting moment @ Heartland Acres Conservation Farm This morning - I got to watch the river otter play in the sunshine - on land for the first time - pintails were getting future duckling rowdy on the pond, and payment cleared on my nursery license fee for 2026 - so I will be available in town soon, possibly well before motherās day. I often say - it takes what it takes, and itās true. You work, you believe, you wait to see⦠and every now & then, the milestone m

Copy of DEA National Take Back April 25th, 2026
A cause close to my heart, after our family was devastatingly affected, 5 years ago this July, and from so many I have seen hurt: donāt forget, DEA drug take back day is April 25th. Itās a great time to turn in any unused prescriptions / prescription medications (legally prescribed or not) so they donāt end up in the water, or landing YOU in hot water. It is Spring - time for new growth. No questions asked, drop them in, the professionals dispose. Of course Yellow Med isnāt

Migration Motivation - Oh My!
Today was a hug from mother nature, like only she can give. One of the benefits of believing in your American Dream so much (to be the generation that puts the family back into the greatest profession of all after only one generation out, farming and being a part of the local food chain) means living in the barn Iām growing out of, or it wouldnāt be possible. So, I get to live by the light, I hear the birdies through the... ventilation : ) - and the outstanding results fro
