Cold Snap / Butterfly Forecast

Sweatah- Weatha is knocking, fall raspberries are doing their thing, sweet autumn clematis is starting to shine, the birds are starting to get squerriely, & it was plant inspector time…

(wohoo ‘keep up good work’ - Grandpa Sarge would be proud)

…but, my lil’ wild caterpillar friends say their is still time to grow, before its flying time. I was delighted to see several sizes of happy caterpillars chomping away (all wild egg laid), suggesting this taste of cool is just a fall warning, with time to yet finish settling some roots (Aster for color yet this fall? Milkweed for next years Monarchs - get in on the fun!? Amnosia for the Spring Surprise?), I just keep marking with my “spring shower” sticks so if nature challenges us at all in its wisdom, I don’t forget which are not yet established & mulch / feed / weed / & seed….. always that darn “ & “ with outside & never enough light, right?

(Yes I’m slightly ridiculous. My Sista says I’m “too nostalgic & it’s annoying” 😂🤷🏼‍♀️)

Milkweed got a WORKout this season

Queen of the Prairie for next season arrived from Prairie Moon. I just love what they have going on & I cannot wait to see these grow out, I haven’t seen one since I was a little girl and it was stunning. Hopefully we can add some to Yellow Med : )

Overnight-out treatment for next year’s late season columbine & penstemon starts. Mother Nature does it best, so thank you, whenever she offers help with the weather

Gotta hurry up with my mulch out - accidentally disturbing the peace, gotta get it from “mid-set” to permanent cozy for the roots & critter-crawl in.
