DEA National Take Back April 25th, 2026
A cause close to my heart, after our family was devastatingly affected & from so many I have seen hurt: don’t forget, DEA drug take back day is April 25th. It’s a great time to turn in any unused prescriptions / prescription medications (legally prescribed or not) so they don’t end up in the water, or landing YOU in hot water. It is Spring - time for new growth. No questions asked, drop them in, the professionals dispose. Of course Yellow Med isn’t listed, but Lyon County &

This We Do….
The news keeps cutting it short, & like so many other things in life - the start does matter. The Worldwide Motto of Search & Rescue, town, military, MRA (Mountain Rescue Association) - it’s the same: This WE do, So Others Might Live We. Do. Because, there is NO such thing as former; and teamwork, can conquer any task. We always have the shovel for that. Sometimes fencing pliers too! Rise up this Easter. Stretch - stand tall in your humanity, lean in, because out here in A

It’s Just a Tick
Tick #1 - wohoo Sure seems like it’s gonna be a buggy summer. I rolled thru a -too fancy for me - car wash yesterday. It kept flashing at me to relax… um, I’ll skip the space car wash so I can next time 😂☺️ & the 2024 Amaryllis are still delighting us. Hopefully I’ll have some to offer this Christmas time, they have been wonderfully reliable.

In Like a Lion - Out Like a Lion - ROAR : )
Wowza the roar of the breeze today. Like the momma of momma’s, Mother Nature is still upset with us 2 leggers. Work harder, smarter, faster. Harder, smarter, faster. Harder, smarter, faster 😬 I had to anchor my bird cage or it was gonna try & fly away (yes yes my beaner should be flipped) and it tipped a 1/2 chewed Beaver-loss tree. Thankfully only one side will need an immediate cut down to take it off its neighbor. One of the Beavers had started on it Fall 2023, and a c

Work the Season
The predator birds are rolling thru strong - time to get that standing mulch down to the ground & move that line y’all - because the grass is coming! I can’t wait to see the nice ranchers bring some of my favorite babies back to the pasture across the way. It’s always fun for me when they swing the gate - because more company watching the sun come up at coffee time & then soon enough, I get to say hi to the north critter crew at mail pickup, when they get to run west. It’s

No, no, - thats why - grrrr!
Today was almost stitches day for one. I rolled back in from a trip to town-town, & there’s mom getting after standing mulch…. But oh, she had an injury for me to check 🙄 Thankfully, her little electric kick it saw is pretty safe, and it didn’t eat in stitches deep, just steri strip / maybe some super glue once it settles, BUT - What happened to my mom is EXACTLY why I firmly believe, in laughing whenever someone tells me: “You could get so much more done with power tools”

Happy Tom Day
What a beautiful morning, for what would have been, my father Tom’s 75th birthday. Dad was born a farmer, taken off the farm as a young man, transplanted to Florida, where his love of outside, became a love of surfing. When we were little girls, learning to ski at Terry Peak, Dad would often say “skiing is just surfing on frozen water”. He also once dropped me at the south entrance of a Badlands loop trail, with very little gear, and a map, with the other-side where he would

Weather~Coaster Onward
Wowza, that wind sure sent the corn husks flying! Strong clouds & now about to be buried in again. This March is ‘In like a lion, lamb nap, ROAR! Hopefully it shakes out for our April showers. And for all in harms way tonight - as always - you’re in my prayers for the kindest resolution possible for all parties involved. Times like these - in my personal life & the world - I am so grateful for the comfort of nature. And since I can’t do anything ‘bout any of that… 567 d

Baking Weather into Migration - yay Spring (PS - Birdcast is Live!)
Another beautiful coating of white gold all around this morning and I am so grateful for the spring moisture. (And the fresh goodies the inside time brought) The redwing blackbirds are back in full force. I had a flock of young ones just outside my door on their way north, and I so love their happy chatter. And - Birdie Nerdies rejoice! Birdcast is live: https://dashboard.birdcast.org/region/US-MN-173 Happy extra sunshine time - get those wildlife photos in to our fantastic
